Jim Sargent began his custom home building business in the 1970's during the oil embargo and ensuing energy crisis. He began the practice of monitoring the energy consumption of each home he built, a practice he continues today.

His understanding of what works and why in healthy, energy efficient construction has made him a popular guest on Dallas radio and TV shows. He teaches Energy Efficient Construction for the National Association of Home Builders' University of Housing. The NAHB has recognized Jim as a Graduate Master Builder, GMB; a Certified Graduate Builder, CGB; and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist.
